Abstract
Although a relatively large number of intracranial cavernous hemangioma have been reported, these vascular malformations in the extracerebral middle cranial fossa are rare.
We experienced one of extracerebral cavernous hemangioma in the middle cranial fossa. The patient was a 45-year-old female who had a visual impairment and intermittent seizure attack. We reemoved the mass partially because of profuse bleeding and
confirmed cavernous hemangioma pathologically.
And then irradiation was started after the operation. The mass responded to irradiation very well and the CT scan showed significant reduction in the size of the mass and final disappearance.
It is concluded that in case of an extracerebral cavernous hemangioma in the middlc cranial fossa, irradiation was a very effective modality of treatemtn. At least the follow-up periods more than one year may be needed for the delayed effect of
radiation therapy.
